There is a legendary Soviet press photographer Evgeniy Haldey in the spotlight of this documentary film. He passed through the war from its very first day to the last. On June 21, 1941 he took pictures of confused and frightened people, listening to the loudspeaker about the fascist attack. In May 1945 he photographed the Soviet banner flapping over the Reichstag. The main heroes of his photos became Soviet people, common ones and party leaders, soldiers and nurses, cinema stars and unknown dairymaids. The photographer`s own destiny consisted of ups and downs, at the times Stalin`s persecution of the Jews. In nineties the world-known photographer died in beggary. “Notes to the Past” is attempt to pay memory tribute to the master. It is the excellent documentary film, that makes the viewrs to think about the last 70-years events.

The Second World War is in its full swing. The coal barge sails through the Northern seas. The ship is conned by the captain Tikhon and the sailor Anatoliy. Group of fascists making an ambush force Anatoliy to extradite the hiding captain. Anatoliy is given a difficult choice: whether to be killed or to tell where his captain is. The young sailor chooses the second one.

There have passed thirty years. Anatoliy is living on the island, which gave him shelter some time ago. He is the grey-headed aged man now, being also the local legend. He is given a gift to heal people, but he still prays for forgiveness of his thirty years old sin. He has lost the hope to be forgiven, but…

The film could be called one of the most considerable contemporary art statements. Pavel Lungin has created the surprising and unexpected comparing with his films “Distant relatives” ,“The Oligarch” and “The Wedding”. “The Island” consists of: the graceful redemption story, incredible operator`s work and the stunning Petr Mammonov.

Nevertheless Kostya Kot has survived. He serves his fifteen years for that stupid attempted robbery. Dimon Oshparenniy certainly suffers from his betrayal. He has moved ahead with his legal business and helps his ex-partner get out of the prison. Kot has got now the new name and new “boomer”. But from the very first minutes of freedom he understands, that his prospects are not so good. All his pretty life, plans and love stayed behind in the first film, when he had left for Moscow to criminal night “date” from his beloved woman.

Once in a blue moon the second part of the successful picture could be better, than first one. In this case Petr Buslov decided to change the genre of the film. So, if you expect to see in the second part the criminal adventures of the favourite heroes, you`ll be disappointed. And, if you are ready to dig deeper, you`ll like it. And the Vdovitchenko`s hero during the two hours proves to the viewer the truth: he who had once turned off the right road risks to find himself in the desperate labyrinth. Where he can only dream about the faraway country Goa.

Frankly, widely-advertised before the demonstration in 2006 “Hunt for Piranha”, was not the film everybody liked. Mostly the audience disliked the trite technique, when in the film`s ending the superhero kills hundred of enemies in no time and stays alive. But the whole impression from the film is quite good.

At least we have learned to make films! Surely, this fact was understood before the “piranha”, but the film of Andrey Kavun strengthened this opinion.

According to the story of the film, the special subdivision member Kiril is going to taiga with his colleague Olga in order to render the dangerous arms on the China border. But situation goes out of the control and as he result the couple together with the rest of uninvited guests is caught by Prokhor, who is according to his words the master of taiga hunting for people. Obviously the hero of Mironov couldn`t help of chasing for this “batch” of targets.

Together with some other Russian films made during the last five-six years “Flash.ka” is a good reason to criticize the newest history of cinematograph creators because of their complete lack of talent.

As for me, “Flash.ka”could be classified as unobtrusive drama with the elements of action, but not as garbage as the hot-tempered critics would like to present it. But the film story fairly could be called banal. Andrey, big company coworker comes to know about the unfaithfulness of his own wife, being also the manager of the company he works in. Threatening by the weapon the guy decides to escape together with the company account manager Kotik and valuable flash disk containing the information about 320 mln USD machination.

Khottabich is the new screening of the old idea by Russian stage directors. This film was made in quite up-to-date manner, so it would be interesting to the youth as well as for the older audience.

Gena, a programmer to his fingertips, once ordered via the Internet the jar. Like in the fairy tale he found a gin inside it, ready to carry out three boy`s wishes. Everything is possible with Khottabych - to make millions of false dollars, to fly over the Red Square on the magic carpet and to save the American girl also… The film is a brilliant combination of up-to-date humour with the old plot told in a new way.

She just lived far away in the steppe in the broiling sun. Or existed only? She has got a husband, a daughter and an angry dog. She met Him on the friend`s wedding once and both feel irresistible attraction to each other. They don`t know what to do now. Her husband knows. Everything is quite easy. If the dog bitted of the daughter`s finger - it should be cut and the dog should be shot down. If the wife wants to leave – the house should be burned out and… well, he knows what to do then.

The “Euphoria” has a spirit of Platonism. They are walking through the boundless steppe to nowhere towards their destiny. One can’t joke with his destiny and can’t escape from it. In response to every step could be heard sounding of eternity, in each frame of this wonderful film.

Petersburg is not merely a city, it really could be a spiritual being, sometimes the same cheerful, sunny and romantic like in this movie. But even in this movie it reminds its origin and sucks down (not without reason it was built on the bog). For example, the young architect Maxim, working like famous Platonov as a street cleaner, wins a contest and has a promising possibility to go to Germany, but he wouldn’t make up his mind to do this.

At that time, Masha, full of energy, cheerful and very unusual girl, who is working a DJ on the Peter FM radio, is going to marry her time-tested serious and sober-minded playfellow. Suddenly the chance (it could be inspired by Peter) helps them to make such important life decisions: Masha accidentally looses her mobile phone and Maxim accidentally finds it.
